What Rorschach Tests Really Tell Us
One of the most well-known psychological tools is the Rorschach Inkblot Test. A viewer looks at ten inkblots, one at a time, and describes what they see. The rationale behind this test is the idea that certain aspects of the subject"s personality will be exposed as they are interpreting the images, allowing for the possible diagnosis of various psychological disorders. However, does the inkblot really reveal all? Psychological Science in the Public Interest, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science, published an exhaustive review of all data on the Rorschach (and other similar "projective" tests) in 2000. Such meta-analyses are major undertakings, so although this report is a few years old, it remains the most definitive word on the Rorschach. According to authors Scott O. Lilienfeld of Emory University, James M. Wood of University of Texas at El Paso, and Howard N. Garb of the University of Pittsburgh, despite its popularity, the Rorschach may not be the best diagnostic tool and practitioners need to be cautious in how they use this technique and interpret their results.

Expanded Practice Offers Greater Choice For Dental Patients In Williton

Somerset people living in the Williton area now have a wider choice when it comes to choosing an NHS dentist. The Stoneleigh House Dental Practice, based in High Street, has recently undergone major improvements and expanded so that alongside Dr. Andre Louw there are now three other dentists working part time. The practice opened its doors to the public some weeks ago, but the formal opening was held last Wednesday, May 6th. Jane Barrie OBE, Chairman of NHS Somerset unveiled a commemorative plaque and joined local dignitaries, employees and friends to mark the occasion. Dr Louw said: "We are very grateful for the support and assistance we have received from Somerset Primary Care Trust which has enabled us to provide the excellent new facilities here in Williton. "Our aim is to ensure that every patient receives the highest possible quality of care. All our staff - the hygienist, dental nurses and receptionists - try to make every visit to the dentist as pleasurable as possible. The entire practice and treatment areas are accessible to wheelchair users and we will do our best to meet any special needs you may have," said Dr Louw. Martin Fulford, Dental Health Adviser to NHS Somerset, said: "NHS Somerset is committed to improving public access to NHS dental services across the county. "We are pleased to have been involved in the development of Stoneleigh House for the benefit of those living in and around Williton. The new practice already has 3000 registered patients and has a total capacity for up to another 1000. "It will provide better access to high quality NHS dental treatment and meet the needs of local people for years to come," said Mr Fulford. More (1 of 2) Stoneleigh House Dental Practice is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am - 5.00pm, closing for lunch between 1.00-2.00pm. NHS Somerset
